Patrick “Pat” Ace Miller was horseback from a very early age. As a young boy he rode from home to the Lance Creek School and later to catch the school bus into Lusk. In February of 1964, Pat married Beverly “Bev” Grant. After earning degrees from the University of Wyoming, Pat and Bev returned to the family ranch Southwest of Lance Creek. Pat prided himself on the brandings he attended over the years. He never thought he was too good for any job and was never too busy to help a neighbor. Pat wasn’t a guy to just show up to help brand in the spring, he would help move a house, build corrals, dock sheep, dig water line, whatever was asked of him by family, friends, and neighbors. Pat was a hand with a team of horses, and as a true cowboy and rancher he knew hard times, the value of a dollar, and hard work. Pat left a lasting legacy that will live on through his kids and grandkids and numerous other friends and family. Pat passed on irreplaceable general and historical knowledge with the museum he established in Lance Creek.
