Dallas Talbott

Dallas was born in 1943 on a sheep and cattle ranch  in Albany County and has been a cowboy for most of his life working with sheep and/or cattle. As a young man Dallas learned how to break horses to ride. He managed many ranches in the Centennial Valley from 1967 until 1993 when he bought his own ranch. He leased the Bow Fiddle Ranch for the last 30 years and ran yearlings for different cattle buyers from Colorado and Nebraska.  Dallas was a ranch manager for several ranches while raising five children. At every ranch, he learned how to overcome different challenges while working different types of cattle. He worked with Longhorn, Brahma, Hereford, and Black Angus cattle. At one point, Dallas worked cattle on the King Ranch in Texas, sorting cattle that the owner of the ranch was buying and shipping to Wyoming. He also learned how to work with buffalo as part of his job at the 91 Ranch in Albany County. In 1985, he leased the Bow Fiddle Ranch from Bob and Joy Twist. He pastured 400 – 600 head of yearlings for different cattlemen. After Bob Twist passed away, he continued to lease the Bow Fiddle Ranch from Joe Laniger until 2024. He also owned the Double Muleshoe Ranch in the Centennial Valley where at age 80 he still runs about 25 pairs of cows and calves. Dallas has been very blessed to be able to run cattle throught his life as that has always been the only job he has ever wanted.
