Dale M. Sims was born at his grandmother’s house in Greybull in 1937. He attended school at Avent Country School, Otto, and Greybull until his junior year when he married Bonnie LaRose Coguill on June 18, 1955. Dale worked at the Holzworth Farm in Worland until 1957, raising sheep and sugar beets. They then moved to Greybull where Dale worked at the bentonite plant briefly. In November of 1957, they moved to the TE Ranch on the Southfork of the Shoshone River in Cody. Dale and Bonnie would raise their three children on the Southfork working at various ranches for the next 45 years including the TE Ranch, the Belknap, the Diamond Bar Ranch, and Stire’s Cattle Company. He finished his full time cowboy career at the Double Diamond X Ranch in 2002, but continued to help neighbors and friends with their places and their cattle. To this day he is still fixing fence, irrigating, and helping brand calves with his neighbors and friends. Dale is happiest working outside or spending time with his family. Dale has lived most of his life on the Southfork, raising cattle and working the land.
