Robert H. (Bob) Borgialli was born January 29, 1933, to Charlie and Ruth Borgialli (the second of six children) at the Marshall and Hazel Cullum home in Newcastle. He grew up on the family ranch and attended grade school at the Borgialli Country School. He then attended Newcastle High School. Riding and ranching were in his blood and he continued to live and work on the family ranch, build his cowherd, and raise some horses. He began to save money for a down payment on his own ranch. In August 1960, he moved his family, including four children, Bobby, Judy, Cindy, and Dianne, to Buffalo, where he purchased the Anton Zahradnicek Ranch on Rock Creek. Like his father, he raised registered and commercial Hereford cattle along with ranch horses. The early days of the ranch also included a sheep herd. He broke most of the ranch horses himself and is adamant that horses are to be ridden and not be idle in the pasture. Many horses came and went but his favorite was a palomino wild horse named Princess. And now, at 89 years old, his horse of choice is “Buck.”
